<strong>Bench2Bench means togetherness and with that in mind Bench2Bench plans to bring together communities and individuals from across the British Nation in the name of art and creativity to help support CHILDREN with CANCER UK.</strong></p>

Bench2Bench is unlike your everyday charity event. It is an artist walk that is donating to CHILDREN with CANCER UK. Cancer plays a part in the lives of so many and in the life of the Bench2Bench artist it has affected him personally. </p>

With that in mind the artist Rohan Samuel has dared to create a project that that is test of physical endurance and passion of the arts. The Bench2Bench journey starts in Charing Cross, the center of London and ends at the furthest bench in England in Berwick-upon-Tweed close to the border of Scotland. A journey that starts on 1st of August and ending 5th October taking the artist Rohan Samuel over 430 miles of British landscape.<br />
Creating art work along his journey and documenting this monumental excursion through the medium of film and a journal as well as sound recordings of the artist's thoughts as he tries to reach his goal.</p>
<p>
Along this walk the artist will be stopping off in 5 major cities where he will be hosting performances within the town square. These performances are designed around the community and will involve them in creating the art.</p>

Cancer plays a part in all our lives and for the Artist it is one that has affected hi<span style="font-size: 12px;">m personally when he was a child. On top of that his former belated partner within the project, Bobbie Black, was a great lover of children. Mixing the two we decided to work with CHILDREN with CANCER UK on this project because of their ethics and their vision. Being a small charity based in Great Portlan</span><span style="font-size: 12px;">d Street, made things a lot better as we feel the bigger charities receive much more where as the smaller charities don’t get much of a look in at times.</span></p>

Bench2Bench are hosting a few events leading up to the build up for the walk. The first of which is an exhibition on the 20th June at Curious Duke Gallery. This exhibition brings together a number of artists who have created work based on the theme of cancer, charities and togetherness as well as their personal thoughts on the same theme.<br />
In July Bench2Bench are holding two fundraising events, these are social events open to the public, in order to raise money for the charity and put on a show to all that have helped with the project and for the public to be a part of the Bench2Bench project.</p>
<p>
After the journey there will be a final exhibition to commemorate the artist through all of his art work created along the journey. Including the five performance pieces. It will also host a montage of the artist's favourite bench made from images of benches taken from people following the project through social media and other means. This will signal the end of Bench2Bench and all that is. An artist charity walk bringing people together because art is not for the artists it is for all.</p>

Collectively Bench2Bench has raised over £200 in donations online, we plan to reach our target of £2000 by the completion of the walk on the 5th of October.<br />
Bench2BenchBites was set up to promote Bench2Bench to the public with a twist. It gets peoples views on what they think of charities and what they think of the project. With this I was then interviewed by Ken Wilson max of the Weekly world on their monthly section named “Opportunities” about Bench2Bench, which will be published in the next two weeks.</p>

A 2012 graduate of The University of Westminster he has gone on to be signed by DEBUT Contemporary in the same year and has since then gone on to have countless exhibitions in England and his first exhibition in Europe. </p>

Rohan is the founder of Bench2Bench and the artist who will be taking part on the mamouth journey.He also is part of curating the Bench2Bench exhibitions as well as organising the Bench2Bench project.</p>

A professional artist and also a graduate of the 2012 class from The University of Westminster. Both artists differ in style and technique but the outcome of which marvels in the sublime. Blaze has exhibited in and around London as well as working as part of an art performance in Frieze 2011.</p>

<span style="font-size: 12px;">For our sponsors I am having inflatable benches, which will be signed, by the sponsors the charity and the members of bench2Bench as well as the artists exhibiting in the Bench2Bench exhibition and of Debut contemporary the gallery in which I am being represented. As well as this with the art work that has been made through the journey of Bench2Bench, which will be exhibited in London, the Bench2Bench team would like for the sponsors have a piece of art work made on the journey as a gesture of thanks.</span></p>

Bench2Bench is not your typical run a mile this is a unique project not only is it trying to help out a worthy cause as cancer affects so many lives but it is also doing something that is less visible. It is bringing people together through a medium loved by all but practiced by many. Through art Bench2Bench plans to bring a togetherness of cities in one nation by getting regular people to take part in a project that is going to be seen by millions.</p>

The funds will be distributed between these sections:<br />
1. Camping equipment including a first aid kit</p>
<p>
2. A wide range of art equipment from paints to pastels, sketchbooks to paper – a list will be shown to the sponsors upon request</p>
<p>
3. Materials for the performances – these are more specific than the art equipment. This includes</p>
<ul>
<li>
4 large primed boards that will stand up in the middle of Oxford square</li>
<li>
1000 yellow postage notes and 1000 blue postage notes</li>
<li>
A sheet of un-primed cotton duck canvas measuring at 300 cm x 300cm</li>
<li>
A Perspex box</li>
</ul>

4. 5 cities have already been chosen to hold each performance but I have to pay a fee for usage of the town centre</p>

5. Bench2Bench has a PR company called AllAboutTheIdea helping to promote Bench2Bench to all the media as well as local radio press and TV within the 5 major cities where I will be performing.</p>

6. Hiring of venues for exhibition and two fundraising events – the money from the fundraising events are going to charity and 10% of any work sold in the exhibition will go to wards the charity</p>

7. Refreshments and expenses for all of the events</p>

8. The hiring space for the final exhibition held after the walk</p>
