Who is CrowdBnk?

CrowdBnk is one of the first regulated digital investing platforms for unlisted securities that allows the crowd to invest in vetted viable businesses where the investor keeps all of any upside. Since launching in the summer of 2013, we have successfully funded 19 companies, helping to raise £17m.

CrowdBnk is a registered trademark of CrowdBnk Limited, a limited company registered in England and Wales (No. 07706111), with a registered office at TechHub @ Campus, 4-5 Bonhill Street, London, EC2A 4BX.

In respect of its regulated activities, CrowdBnk Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (No. 627852).

What is your privacy policy?

We operate a strict privacy policy. We will not share your details with anyone outside of CrowdBnk. You can read our privacy policy here.

How secure is it?

We take security very seriously at CrowdBnk. Like many investment managers, we believe that the safest way of looking after your investments is to appoint a "custodian bank" to hold your money. Our custodian is called Global Custodian Services, using Royal Bank of Scotland.

GCEN holds your investments in a segregated account for added security and never lends your assets to third parties. This means that your investments are protected in the unlikely event that either CrowdBnk or GCEN are declared bankrupt.

In addition, our site is protected to modern bank standards with 256-bit SSL encryption.

What type of company will I be investing in?

With CrowdBnk you will invest in exciting, rigorously vetted early stage and established businesses.

What does owning shares give me?

Owning shares gives you a direct interest in the profits of the company. If the company is successful and pays dividends, you will be entitled to a dividend for each share you own. Then if the company is ever sold, you will share proportionately in the sale proceeds.

Am I guaranteed a return on my investment?

No. Any investment in shares is risky and there is a chance that you will lose the amount you invest in a business if it is unsuccessful.

What happens if I invest but a business doesn’t reach its minimum funding target?

If you have invested in a business and it doesn’t reach its minimum funding you will be refunded in full. Your user account will be credited with the amount of money you originally committed to the business.

Why do I have a limit on the amount I can invest in businesses with CrowdBnk?

Investing in a business always carries some risks – not every business makes enough profit to pay a dividend to its shareholders, and some businesses fail. To make sure CrowdBnk members can afford to bear any potential losses, we set a limit on how much they can invest in any year. We work this out automatically based on how much each member earns and how experienced they are as an investor.

Can I invest from overseas?

If you are an international investor then please get in touch here

How do I take money out?

If you have uninvested funds in your account, you can request a refund of these funds at any time. Please email us your request:  [email protected].

Once funds have been invested in a business, and the business funds successfully on CrowdBnk, you are unlikely to be able to take them out of your investment until an "exit event" happens: The company is bought by another company, is listed on a stock exchange or buys back shares from its shareholders.

If the business does not fund successfully, your funds will be returned to your account, and can be withdrawn upon request

How can I change my details?

Where are my CrowdBnk funds held?

We have appointed a "custodian bank" to hold your money. Our custodian is called Global Custodian Services (GCEN), using Royal Bank of Scotland. GCEN holds your investments in a segregated account for added security and never lends your assets to third parties.
